Bible Journal Support

Practical guidance and support for Bible Journal for iPhone, iPad and Android.

About Bible Journal

Bible Journal is a Bible reading tracker for iPhone, iPad and Android, published by Pronounced80 Solutions Limited. The app helps you track your Bible reading progress at your own pace, organize readings into distinct journeys, record private study notes, and maintain a clear personal reading history.

How Your Data Is Stored

Bible Journal is designed as a local-first utility. All journal records, including your reading journeys, completed chapters, reading dates, and personal notes, are saved directly in private application storage on your device.

  • On-device storage: The app saves your journal data on your device and does not send it to us. We do not receive, collect, or access your reading records or notes.
  • No device sync: The app does not sync progress between multiple devices. Installations on iPhone or iPad and on Android do not sync with each other.
  • No sharing: The app does not share your journal data, progress, or notes with other users or third parties.
  • Device permissions: The Android app requests no device permissions, including no internet permission. When you tap an external link, your browser opens it and handles that connection itself.
  • Device backups:
    • On iPhone and iPad: Your app data may be included in system-level device backups (such as Apple iCloud Backup or a local computer backup) depending on your device and backup settings. These backups are managed by Apple and your device settings, not by Bible Journal or Pronounced80 Solutions Limited.
    • On Android: Android app backup is turned off, so the app's data is not included in Google cloud backups. Depending on the device and Android version, a direct device-to-device transfer when setting up a new device may still copy app data.
  • Deleting or reinstalling the app:
    • On iPhone and iPad: Deleting the app normally removes its local data from the device. Pronounced80 Solutions Limited does not hold a copy of your records and cannot recover them. Any restoration from an Apple device backup depends on your device and backup settings; the publisher does not control or guarantee backup restoration.
    • On Android: Uninstalling the app deletes its local data, and Pronounced80 Solutions Limited cannot recover it.

Using Bible Journal

Reading Journeys

You can set up separate reading journeys to organise different reading schedules or study plans. Switch between active journeys anytime from the Journeys screen.

Marking Reading Progress

  • Marking a reading: Tap a chapter or reading assignment to mark it as completed. The app records the completion date automatically.
  • Unmarking / Undo: If you mark a chapter by accident, tap it again to unmark it, or use the undo action when prompted.
  • Journal history: Open the Journal tab to see a chronological log of all your completed readings and dates.

Notes and Reading Dates

  • Private notes: In the assignment details view, you can enter personal study notes. These notes are saved locally on your device alongside the reading assignment.
  • Editing or clearing dates: If you want to record when a reading actually took place, you can edit the recorded completion date or clear it directly in the assignment details.

Importing Progress from a JSON File

Bible Journal allows you to import reading progress from a valid Bible Journal JSON progress file into your active journey:

  1. Open the Journeys view in the app and confirm the intended journey is active.
  2. Select Import progress.
  3. Choose a valid Bible Journal .json file using the system file picker.
  4. Review the progress entries found in the file. Progress is only applied to the active journey after your explicit confirmation.
  5. If you need to revert the change, you can undo the most recent import.

Important notes regarding import: The app reads the chosen JSON file locally on your device; the app does not upload the selected file to our servers. The import applies progress to the active journey and is not a complete device backup. It does not restore every journey or custom note.

  • On iPhone and iPad: You select the file using the iOS system document picker. The system document picker may access external storage or cloud providers according to your iOS settings.
  • On Android: You select the file using the Android system file picker. The picker may show files from cloud or external storage providers set up on your device.

Chapter References & External Links

When viewing reading assignments, tapping a chapter reference link opens that chapter in Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY (WOL) in your default web browser.

  • Bible Journal is a reading progress tracker, not an e-reader or Bible translation. The app does not contain or display the full Bible text.
  • When you tap a chapter reference, only the specific reference identifier and selected language are passed to your default browser to open the relevant WOL webpage.
  • Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY links open outside the app on iPhone, iPad and Android, and tapping one does not mark a chapter as read.
  • Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY is an external website operated independently by Watchtower. Your visit to WOL is governed by Watchtower's own website terms and privacy practices. No journal records, notes, or reading history are shared with WOL.
